Three people were injured Thursday morning, one critically, when a car careened into a taxi cab. It shut down traffic along John J. Pershing Drive near Dick Collins Road around six o'clock this morning.
Jamie Harris, 25, was traveling north on John J. Pershing Drive when police say she lost control of her vehicle. Her car crossed into the southbound lanes of traffic, colliding nearly head-on with a taxi.
Harris is in the ICU at Creighton University Medical Center. She sustained a bleed on the brain. Her injuries are considered to be life-threatening.
The driver of the taxi, 36 year-old Julias Ballard was treated for abdominal pain and minor cuts and scrapes. He has since been released from the hospital.
Ballard had a passenger with him, Kevin Freeman of Flower, Texas. He was treated for minor cuts and scrapes and released.
Police say both speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash. The investigation is on-going.
