An Air Force officer transferring to a new post is victim of a break-in before he can leave the metro.
LaVista police say the serviceman had been staying at the Hampton Inn near Giles and Interstate 80 over the weekend.
Thieves broke into his van and took a 357 handgun, bullet proof vest, ammo and several military uniforms. A DVD player is also missing.
He’s not the only victim. A woman from western Nebraska staying at the motel also found items missing from her car.
The Hampton Inn also reports a computer tower and flat screen monitor lifted from the guest business office.
