The family of an injured Lincoln high school football player has filed a $750,000 negligence lawsuit against the city and school district.

Former Lincoln East player Brady Beran suffered a head injury in a September 2004 game.

The lawsuit alleges the city was negligent because its ambulance transportation and care wasn't appropriate or adequate.

No ambulance was at the game when Beran was injured. The school district had stopped hiring standby ambulances at football games the year before to cut costs.

City Attorney Dana Roper declined to comment.

Ambulances returned to the games after Beran's injury and are being paid for by community donations.
