The Beatrice City Council has decided to allow people who hold concealed-handgun permits to carry guns within city limits.
Under a previous city law, concealed weapons of any kind weren't permitted in the city.
The City Council voted Monday evening to change the law.
Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning has said that cities can't opt out of a state law passed in 2006 that allows a person with a permit to carry a concealed handgun.
And state lawmakers voted earlier this month to advance a bill (LB430) that prohibits cities from having individual concealed-weapons bans.
