An elderly Iowa woman was killed in a one-vehicle crash Wednesday evening on Interstate 29.

The crash happened just after 5pm, about two miles south of Highway 370 on Interstate 29.

The woman, 66-year-old Michale Mattes, of Sidney, Iowa, was killed after her car veered into a construction zone.

Mattes' car hit a Caterpillar milling machine. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

No one else was injured in the crash. The Iowa State Patrol is still investigating why the car veered into the construction zone.
