A highway 75 bridge near Plattsmouth is being restricted to one lane travel beginning today. Electronic signs have been alerting motorists to expect delays on the Union Pacific Railroad bridge between the Highway 66 and 1st Avenue intersections.
The Cassgram reports that as with the Webster Boulevard overpass work last year, temporary traffic signals will be utilized. Nebraska Department of Roads District Construction Engineer Marvin Lech says traffic will be monitored the first few days to determine the best timing of the temporary lights with the 75/66 intersection lights.
Lech says he expects local residents already have a plan in mind to avoid that part of Highway 75 if possible.
Construction on the much larger bridge to the north took from August 24th until December 10th last year and even though the NDOR news release stated construction on the bridge over the railroad could last until October Lech expects work to be completed much sooner than that.
