10 Tornadoes In Monday's Severe Weather

10 Tornadoes In Monday's Severe Weather
Scientists from the National Weather Service now say Monday's severe storms put down a total of 10 tornadoes in Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa. The information is based on damage surveys completed Tuesday.

Scientists from the National Weather Service now say Monday's severe storms put down a total of 10 tornadoes in Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa. The information is based on damage surveys completed Tuesday.

The National Weather Service says tornadoes in Nebraska were confirmed in the following locations:

  • Hickman, Ne -- four miles south
  • Hickman, Ne -- two miles east
  • Bennet, Ne -- two miles west
  • Eagle, Ne -- south side of town to 1 mile south of Alvo, Ne
  • Alvo, Ne -- four miles northeast

    In Iowa, NWS Scientists confirmed tornadoes in these locations:

  • Villisca, Ia -- four miles west
  • Sciola, Ia -- one mile southwest
  • Lyman, Ia -- three miles east-southeast
  • Wiota, Ia -- two miles south
  • Missouri Valley, Ia -- three miles west

    Injuries from the storms were few. In one incident several people riding in a car in Eagle, Nebraska were injured when flying debris tipped their car over. Their injuries were not life-threatening.
