A shorter school week may be in store for students in the Pleasanton School District in central Nebraska. The school board is considering switching to a four-day week to save money.
That would include dropping Mondays or Fridays and adding 40 minutes to each school day the rest of the week. Superintendent Ron Wymore says it would save on utility bills, transportation costs and personnel costs.
Wymore says a recent survey of staff members shows most favor the change. The district will also ask parents and others in the community for their input.
Nebraska schools currently with a four-day week are Brady, Conestoga, Elba, Randolph, Rising City, Nebraska Christian, Lynch and Wynot.
