Heart Defibrillators

Bellevue police don’t want lifesaving equipment to miss a beat.

Police Chief John Stacey tells Channel Six News that his staff is looking for private grants to modernize the defibrillators carried in cruisers. Stacey says the dozen defibrillators officers have on the street now don’t meet updated heart association standards.
For one, the current equipment can’t be used on children under eight years old.

Stacey estimates each defibrillator costs $1,500.

He hopes a charitable foundation will provide funds to purchase new defibrillators.
