A central Nebraska company plans to operate two ethanol plants in the next three years.

Paul Kenney, an Amherst farmer and president of Energy Grains Biomass LLC, says the plants should be in operation by 2012. He expects to employ 25 full-time workers and another 25 seasonal workers.

It's not clear whether the Kearney-based company will build new plants or take over existing facilities. The company plans to produce ethanol from corn stover, the stalks and leaves left over after corn is harvested.
