Poor Economy Claims Jazz Concert

The Nebraska Jazz Orchestra is blaming the current economic crisis for a difficult decision. The final concert for the orchestra’s 2008-2009 season has been cancelled.

The orchestra was looking forward to the May 19th show with Wayne Bergeron at the Cornhusker Marriott in Lincoln. Bergeron is touted as one of Los Angeles’ most highly sought trumpet players. He will be rescheduled as guest artist for the opening concert of the orchestra’s 2009-2010 season.

This means the March 24th concert with Dana hall will be the final show for the current season.

The board of directors says the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra has lost more than $20,000 in sponsorships and foundation support this year. Season ticket holders will be offered two additional tickets for the March 24th concert to make up for the unexpected cancellation.
