Infant's father goes to prison for abuse.
30-year-old Brian Bowder was sentenced to 18 months to three years in the state correctional system Tuesday for child abuse, a Class IIIA Felony. He pleaded no contest to the charge in December. The prosecution had agreed to remain silent at sentencing and not file an additional child abuse charge for another incident.
The Cassgram reports that in previous court hearings, prosecutors said Bowder, who resided in Greenwood at the time, became impatient with his then four-month-old daughter’s crying and bit, hit, pinched and squeezed the child last June.
Addressing Cass County District Court Judge Randall Rehmeier, Bowder said, "there’s no excuse for my behavior."
Bowder’s three-page criminal record includes theft, assault and resisting arrest offenses in Alaska. Bowder had several previous probation sentences revoked.
In handing down the sentence, Rehmeier described this offense as "particularly egregious."
