Veterans will soon be able to receive their primary health care at a new outpatient clinic in Shenandoah, Iowa set to open next Monday.

The Department of Veterans Affairs community-based outpatient clinic is located in the Orchard Corners Shopping Center.

The Veterans Administration said Monday the clinic brings health care closer to home for veterans living in western Iowa, northwest Missouri and southeast Nebraska. It provides veterans access to primary care and limited mental health services.

Veterans can contact clinic staff at (712) 246-0092 effective February 23rd to make appointments or ask questions about VA health care. The clinic hours will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

The clinic features multiple exam rooms, videoconferencing services for group and specialty clinics and a minor procedure room.

A VA eligibility specialist will be available at the Shenandoah clinic Feb. 23rd, 25th and 29th to answer questions for veterans including whether they are enrolled in the VA health care system, their eligibility status or other relevant issues.

This will be the third outpatient clinic the VA has opened in the past year. A fourth clinic is set to open in Bellevue next month.
