The Iowa Power Fund Board has finalized a $2.1 million grant for a research project at a Newton plant that makes blades for wind turbines.
The grant is awarded to TPI Composites. It will pay for research by Sandia Laboratory and Iowa State University to find better materials and methods to make the blades.
The Power Fund was created to provide funding for education, research and innovation in Iowa.
