A police chase reaching speeds up to 85mph came to a crashing halt late Tuesday afternoon. It started in Bellevue where an auto dealership reported a stolen pickup

Bellevue Police identified the driver as Randall Dasher of Lincoln. Investigators knew the suspect because he was wanted for another case of auto theft.

Investigators tell Channel 6 News the pickup was taken from Gomez Auto at 41st and Harrison shortly after 5 p.m. The dealership knew the thief and notified police. Investigators spotted the white 2001 Ford F-150 pickup at Chandler Rod and Highway 75/JFK Expressway and attempted to stop the driver, but he kept going.

Officers from Bellevue chased the suspect into Omaha where he got off the freeway at F Street. The pursuit came to a stop at 16th and Center when the driver lost control of the truck, hit the curb and smashed into a concrete bus bench. It appeared as though the airbag cut the face of the suspect.

"I'm still shaking," says Marcy Thiessen who lives across the street from the crash site. "I was on the phone with 911 before I even got out here because I've heard the sound too many times. By the time I got out here he was out of the car on the ground and they had him at gunpoint."

Dasher, 42, is facing several charges including the most serious, auto theft and willful reckless driving. No one was seriously hurt. The pickup appeared to be totaled.

Two tow trucks arrived at the scene. One was for the stolen pickup and the other for an overheated Bellevue cruiser.
