Workers Say Office Plagued By Poisonous Spiders

The Nebraska Vocational Rehabilitation Office in Lincoln is looking to move out of its office space because of spiders.

The Associated Press Reports the current office has been plagued by brown recluse spiders for several years.

Exterminators have killed hundreds, but the spiders continue to survive in colonies beneath the building.

More than 100 spider traps are scattered throughout the building.

The office hopes to move into a north Lincoln warehouse by mid-May.

The brown recluse, which is less than an inch long, is the most venomous spider in the Midwest.

Its bite is painless and the symptoms usually show up hours later. A bite can cause lesions and symptoms such as nausea and vomiting, and in rare instances, can be fatal.
