The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has confirmed the presence of a mountain lion near Columbus.

The cougar was confirmed by its tracks found near the Loup River in Platte County west of Columbus. The Commission also confirmed the presence of a mountain lion through a photograph taken near the Loup River on January 12th in Nance County.

Sam Wilson with the commission says it's possible the two confirmations were made from the same mountain lion as it moved along the river.

Columbus is about 65 miles west of Omaha.
