38-year-old Mother Has Stroke, Benefit Planned For Family

On Oct. 6th, Laurie went to bed with a terrible headache and awoke in the morning without the ability to see or hear a thing.

She was taken to Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha and diagnosed with a brain bleed which lead to a stroke.

Laurie was in a coma for 3 weeks, a ventilator for one month, and a feeding tube for two months.

She was transferred to Madonna Rehabilitation in Lincoln to learn to eat, talk & walk again. In March she was transferred back to Omaha to QLI (Quality Living Institute) where she is currently residing until she is able to return home where she will still need assistance in caring for herself and her children.

Although with help from family and friends, Greg, her husband of 15 years is doing his best to raise their 3 daughters, prepare meals, carpooling, and keeping up with the house chores his wife provided.

He is balancing his time with his kids and visiting Laurie while working a full time job to pay the enormous mound of medical bills on top of living expenses.

Although Laurie has come a long way, there are still months and months of obstacles for this family to overcome.

To assist Laurie and Greg with their current and future needs, an auction & spaghetti feed will take place at:
