Burglars dealt a blow last week to the effort to get illegal guns off the streets of Omaha. Six weapons including 4 handguns and an AR-15 Rifle were stolen during residential burglaries.
There was also a burglary at a business in Benson that sounds similar to an earlier burglary at a clothing store just a block away. Expensive Carhart clothing was taken along with boots and hats.
Omaha Police did make an arrest in a burglary near 33rd & Larimore but it didn't require the most in-depth investigative techniques. A 15 year-old was taken into custody after police followed footprints in the snow that led from the victim's front porch right next door. The teen was booked and taken into custody right in front of his mother and the neighbor.
