Omaha Police continue to be kept busy investigating the recent rash of armed robberies.
A man armed with a gun stormed into the Subway restaurant near 74th and Pacific just before 7 p.m. Saturday demanding money. He may have been too brazen. At the sight of him, store employees ran to hide in a back room freezer where they called 911.
As the surveillance video shows, without employees to access the register, the man didn't get away with any money. Employees say the experience was a scary one.
"The adrenaline pumping through your body, surge of energy," said employee Tyler Prendergast. "You just don't really know how to act, you just do whatever you do right then and there, at the moment."
Police are also working on three other robberies with one resulting in a quick arrest. A man approached another man near 24th and F just after 9 p.m. and demanded money, then tried to physically assault him.
The suspect ran off without getting anything. Detectives happened to be in the area and eventually arrested 21-year-old Kody Hastie of Omaha.
Also Saturday night, the Family Dollar store at 30th Street and Newport Avenue was robbed around 6:30 p.m. The Burger King just 10 blocks away was robbed just before 9 p.m.
In each case, two gunmen walked in, demanded money and after being given cash, ran from the scene.
Anyone with information concerning any of the robberies is asked to call police at 444-7867.
