Omaha City Councilman Chuck Sigerson ended speculation Monday that he might enter the race for mayor. Instead, the representative from District 7 announced he will seek re-election to his council seat.

Sigerson said he will continue to keep working to avoid increases in property taxes, promoting new develoment and improving the neighborhoods he represents.

Sigerson was first elected to the city council in 2001 and then again in 2005. He said he'll have a more formal announcement sometime in February.

The primary election is April 7th followed by the general election on May 12th.

To Timmy, your email gives us ordinary citizens a realistic perception of the greed involved with many uion members, along with your obvious disrespect for one of our city leaders, or as you refer to him...."chucky". So Councilman Siegerson did not support your outrageous union contract and now you, and apparently the rest of your fellow union members, want some payback. Well I for one am fed up with your bully tactics. I, along with all I can gather support from, will be endorsing all those cadidates who are not endorsed or receive money from city unions, especially since it is an obvious conflict of interest and must end to stop these inflated perks. Your recent spiking, free insurance and extra vacation time has to end, and I doubt your back scatching cronies in office will be the ones to do it. It is time for honest politicians and the hard working tax payers to take a stand against the all the city unions who like to pad the pockets of so many politicians Go Chuck Go, U 2 Dan

I live in his district, and he sends out a four page report every so often asking for input on some listed issues. None of them represent me and I wonder what he actually does? I've answered the question what else are you interested in several times as, what is the city doing about the illegal immigrants all over our city taking jobs and causing trouble (one wrecked my grandson's car, no insurance, and the pd couldn't do anything because the city is a sanctuary city), and I never get an answer. So now, I just throw the report out, and would not ever vote for him.

Chuck is one of the few City Councilmen with a head on his shoulders. He thinks rationally about an issue, not grandstanding or swaying to special interests. I can see how many citizens wouldn't like someone like that. Lets just hope those citizens aren't voters also. His district seems to have some voters who think about the issues at hand so I think we're safe. Go Chuck!

I'm beginning to think that the first step in cleaning up this city is to simply clean the city council out. If they're in, throw them out. It appears that we cannot possibly do worse than the current bunch of morons.

Good luck Chucky! Don't expect one vote from Omaha Police Officers. We will never forget how well you treated us during contract talks!

Don't re-elect this man. Kick them all out.
