Property tax bills are expected to be sent by the middle of this month in Cass County. The bottom line shouldn’t be a jolt to most taxpayers because the tax rates have stayed about the same or, in some cases, went down, Cass County Assessor Allen Sutcliffe told the Cassgram.
Those seeing an increase will be the ones who experienced a noticeable reassessment in their property tax values, mainly in the Buccaneer Bay area, he says.
It’s the second year of a state tax credit too. Homeowners get a credit that amounts to about $86 per $100,000 of valuation.
There are 18,789 real estate and 1,104 personal property forms to be sent out, says Cass County Deputy Treasurer Cindy Fenton. There have been a couple of issues in getting the statements prepared, but Fenton expects them to be ready for mailing sometime this week
