Two Heartland Churches are tightening up security, and keeping an eye out for the suspicious after thieves swipe high priced electronics from both.

In the first, officials from St. Gerald's Catholic Church reported on Tuesday, November 25th that someone had taken a 46" projector television from an unlocked library room.

It will cost about $1,800 to replace the television.

In the second theft, Christ Community Church officials say that someone walked off with two keyboards. One was valued at $1,700, the second keyboards value was unknown at the time the report was taken, on Saturday, December 1st.

Officials at Christ Community tell police there were activities in the church at the time of the theft, but no one reported seeing anything suspicious.

Doesn't surprise me about St. Gerald, my parish. Things have been so bad for several years at 96th & Q that parishoners have been asked to volunteer as parking monitors during all Masses as that's when thiefs have been known to break into cars. They break in other times, too, so church personnel have told us if we're going on a church-sponsored trip, we should park our cars at the Hy-Vee lot across the street. Very sad.
