A man missing since November 14th was found dead Saturday by a relative in a field near his ex-wife's home at North 36th and McKinley streets.

His family says 48-year-old Douglas Hershlag was diabetic and had not taken his medicine with him. An autopsy will be performed, though foul play is not suspected.

Has anyone heard if any arrangements have been made? Many of us are in shock over this and we need to gather and both share our grief and support the family at this sad time.

My condolences go to Doug's family. I know his sisters, ex-wife, and his daughter. I can only imagine your pain. You are all in our prayers.

Pay attention "Not to Mention" and "Just Me"--when people posted the comments on Dec 5 the news had said he was missing and then on Dec 6 they updated to say he had passed. Get your facts straight. May this man rest in peace, I am sure he will be missed.

Doug is in heaven and at peace, our family sends prayers and condolences to the family.

To Just Me, I agree with the comments about yours where people took the news that he had been missing and sent their wishes before they knew he was found dead. Everyone needs to realize that having diabetes is a very serious disease and can cause some dangerous things to the body. There is memory impairment, body temp fluctuations, problems with the eyes. The body does not start to decaying for a while. He might have been confused about where he was and what he was doing. I'm not surprised that they found him in the field. Think about a lot of bodies found are in ditches, fields, woods, abandoned buildings. My heart goes out to the family this time of the year.

Yes, my previous post was right after the story broke that Doug was missing. I have been quite upset since his death was posted.... I hope that he was able to make peace with the Lord before he died. I miss you Doug!

They update the stories as new developments are found. When those people commented, he hadn't been found dead yet. Prayers for the family
