Channel 6 and other local TV stations will conduct a test of the DTV transition Thursday night to help viewers determine if their televisions are DTV ready.

At 6:58 p.m. Thursday, Channel 6 will remove the video signal that feeds our analog transmitter.

If you are already viewing our digital signal, you will see a graphic that says you are DTV ready. If you are not DTV ready, you will receive instructions on how to receive a digital signal.

There will be another test like this in January. And all television stations will broadcast exclusively in digital beginning February 17, 2009.

When visiting our son in Papillion , we found that digital channels were up and running all the time. Even with a 6 inch whip indoors a good signal was obtained. You do not need to wait for a test. Sports fans , if you are not watching the digital signal off air on your HDTV you are missing something. Analog cable vs. local off the air HDTV is very much night and day.

It would have been nice if the test would have lasted longer. I have several TV's and could not check them all in the FEW seconds the test run. I hope the test in January last long enough to get to different areas of my home to check the TV'S.

I have the HD compatible TV, but I still cannot get the digital channels. I run a scan and no digital channels appear and not all the regular ones. I hav eto manually add some. I would like to get 6.2 and some of the other ".2" channels. What is left for me to do? I think if the gov't can bailout CEOs for billions, then buy peole those converters for us.

I have a cable ready tv where I just hook the cable (Cox) directly into it. Will I need a converter box?

I'm glad you are thinking ahead. I need to test mine. I wish there were more testing dates to accomodate us "busy" people. Thank you ahead of time.
