Omaha Police are on the trail of a man who may be responsible for a string of armed robberies.

A felony warrant has been issued for the arrest of 49-year-old Vincent Gepson of Bellevue. He allegedly pulled a gun while holding up the Interstate Battery Center at South 72nd Street and Rose Blumkin Drive on November 15th.

Channel 6 News has learned he's a person of interest in several other robberies as well.

Gepson has a very distinct look and it would be hard to confuse him with anyone else. He has tattoos all over his body, including down his arms and onto his hands, and he often shaves his head.

Gepson has already done two stints with the Nebraska Department of Corrections, eight years for theft and more recently four months for fraud.

It's been almost three weeks, but Zach Clark still has vivid memories of the night a gunman robbed the the Interstate Battery Center while he was on duty. “At the beginning, I thought it was a joke."

Clark quickly realized how dangerous the situation was when he made an offhanded comment to the robber.

"Something about him shooting me, thinking that it was a joke and he said, ‘yeah I might’ and that's when I was kind of like blown back and then he showed me his weapon and then that's when I was like okay, this is real."

"We're asking for the public's help right now to help us figure out where he is,” says Omaha Police Officer Jacob Bettin. “We're out there looking for him right now, the Metro Area Fugitive Task Force."

Checking the Channel 6 News files, it appears Gepson has been working overtime. On November 13th at the Centennial Bank at 63rd and Center, then at the Council Bluffs Credit Union on the 18th and three days later on the 21st, the First National Bank branch at 24th and Elm.

The gunman was careful to hide his hands while inside the banks. The three robberies are part of the reason Nebraska bankers are putting up $25,000 in reward money.

Police are not yet linking Gepson with the bank robberies, only the Interstate Battery holdup. If and when he's caught, investigators will take a close look at the bank robberies.

The reward is only for the bank robberies, but if it turns out Gepson is the man who robbed the banks, the person who gives him up to police gets the $25,000.

Anyone with information about Gepson's whereabouts is asked to call police at 444-5657.
