Gasoline prices have fallen below 2 dollars a gallon in some parts of the country, yet many people are planning to stay home over Thanksgiving.

Triple A estimates that holiday travel for the 4-day weekend will be down 1.4 percent from last year, to about 41 million Americans. A spokesman says it's part of the overall trend of cutting back because of the economy.

The drop is expected to be less in some places than others. In South Dakota, Thanksgiving travel is projected to be down only one percent.

In Wisconsin, the Department of Transportation is pausing all state construction projects because of the expected heavy holiday travel, plus deer hunters.
