Clinton Secretary of State ?

The New York Times reported Friday afternoon that New York Senator Hillary Clinton had decided to accept an offer to become the next Secretary of State. The newspaper based its story on information from two sources said to be close confidants of Senator Clinton.

President-elect Barak Obama has made no official announcement but aides said earlier in the week that the Clinton nomination was "on track".

The Times report said Senator Clinton had decided to accept the post after having had additional discussions with Obama about what her role would be in the new administration. The decision also comes after lawyers for former President Bill Clinton and Obama agreed on a set of guidelines for Bill Clinton's future activities. The guidelines are intended to avoid any appearances of conflict of interest should Mrs. Clinton take the job.
