Running from Monday, November 24 through Sunday, November 30, the enforcement is part of the national “Click It or Ticket” campaign.

Overtime hours for the operation will be paid for in part by a $27,000 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety (NOHS).
NOHS statistics show one collision occurs every 15 minutes in Nebraska.

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for people between the ages of five-years-old and 34. Wearing a seat belt increases the odds of surviving a crash by up to 50 percent.

As part of the holiday enforcement efforts, NSP will also utilize the “Ten Minutes to a Trooper.” The plan calls troopers located at regular intervals (approximately every 10 minutes). The “Ten Minutes to a Trooper” initiative will focus on Highway 30.

The goal of the initiative is to increase law enforcement visibility during two of the busiest travel days of the Thanksgiving holiday time period.
Motorist Assist volunteers in specially marked vans will also be out to help stranded motorists along Interstate 80 from Omaha to Kearney.

Drivers who notice a reckless or impaired driver or see a crash should call the Nebraska State Patrol Highway Helpline by dialing *55 (star) on any cellular phone or 1-800-525-5555 from any land line.

Road, weather and construction information can be referenced by dialing 511 from any cellular phone or land line.

Will someone from the state legislature or law enforcement explain to me why, when it's ordinarily illegal to pull someone over for a seatbelt violation, it's suddenly okay to ignore (or break) the law when such action is paid for by a grant? Do grants create moratoriums on laws? Is a law only a law when it’s convenient, but ignored when profitable? If I give law enforcement a few thousand dollars and part of the proceeds, will they rob a bank for me? Or maybe I can hire a cop to kill someone for me, as long as I call the money a grant; then it's legal just that once. Seriously, if you can pull over a car for a secondary offence, how soon will it be before you start searching random houses without warrants? Every gun you find saves a life, right? Please, tell me how this "Click it or Ticket" campaign works.
