Firefighters from more than half a dozen metro area departments were called to battle a large building fire in Nashville, Nebraska early Thursday morning.

The fire started between 4:00 and 4:30 a.m. at PK Manufacturing Company on Highway 75 north of Omaha. The company produces agricultural spraying equipment and garden sprayers.

Washington County officials had to shut down the highway between County Road P38 and Interstate 680. It reopened just after five o'clock Thursday evening.

When firefighters arrived, large flames could be seen and explosions heard coming from inside the building. Transporting water five miles to the scene and high winds made fighting the fire difficult.

Multiple departments were called in for manpower and use of their tanker trucks. Tom Schropp, president of P-K Manufacturing hopes to move forward, but right now Schropp is not sure about the future of the company.
