The estate of Rod Kush sold today for $1.625 million. Frank Krejci, a Omaha developer purchased the property.

The 12-year-old home sits on 35 acres in Gretna is over 14-thousand square feet. It has five bedrooms, ten bathrooms, six car garage, in ground swimming pool and three hole golf course. There is also a second smaller home on the grounds

The property was auctioned off by Scott Moore, Vice President of CB Richard Ellis/Mega.

Krejci says he does not have any immediate plans for the property, but says he will donate the house to charity. He also said he will pay cash for the estate.

The seller, Kush is a former UNO football player.

From what I recall, supposedly some uninvited kids came to HIS kid's graduation party beers in hand. Then when the cops showed up, they said Kush provided the beer. WHATEVER. I highly doubt he's destitute. But I too am having a hard time figuring a house with TWICE the number of bathrooms as it has bedrooms. Regardless, I doubt the house itself will be donated to charity. Just what Gretna wants, a halfway-house to skyrocket the crime rate.

1.6 million is not that much now days when it comes to real estate. Look at how many homes are for sale in Omaha between the prices of $500,000 to over a million dollars. Real estate agents in Omaha are getting rich overnite with these sales.

While in the pro's ...he never made an impact on me! Never heard of him. Average Joe. Made it big (somewhat) lost it all.

People, find something or someone else to complain about. Rod sold the house because it was too big for him and his wife now that his kids are gone. He still lives in Nebraska. Rod does not sound like he is very popular but there are more pressing and important things to complain about.

Ben, I'm not a Kush fan, but please get your facts straight. Kush play 6 seasons in the NFL. 1980-1984 with Buffalo and 1985 with the old Houston Oilers.

I can't believe the buyer is donating the house to charity. That really touched me. What a great thing to do. I am interested to see what happens in the future.

Kush didn't leave town, he and Kathy bought a house in Ashland, on one of the private lakes. A lot of his commercial property is up for auction also.

I know alot of homeless people who would love to eat, sleep, drink, lounge & Oh!, work there too. Let's show the zip code 90210 in California how we treat the poor down & out disenfranchised here in Nebraska/Gretna. Now's your chance to shine* Let homeless people live there with some kind of a house mother or monitor. No, not a fox to guard the hen house- but a responsible level headed loving Counselor who will enforce fairly strict rules. It's the opportunity of a lifetime. Of course, it is far from skid row in Omaha. But don't let that stop you. If you can't help enough poor there, COME ON DOWN TO DOWNTOWN OMAHA FOR THE PRICE IS RIGHT! Choose a poor helpless man, woman/child & see if that 5 bedroom, 10 bathroom, 6 car garage, swimming pool, 3 hole gold course Beverly Hillbilly Mansion can become a good home, not just a house. A winning place for souls to survive, thrive, prosper & serve if they choose to. Rome wasn't built in a day. So too Kush Safe Haven of Rest Mission. Do it!

When I was house shopping 3.5 years ago, it was listed for 3.1 and went down to 2.9, 1.6 is a steal.

Why is this a news story? Who cares!

Posted by: To Patty on Nov 18, 2008 at 04:32 PM
Really? That is right it is the police's fault Kush supplied alcohol to MINORS, do you know how many kids have been killed in accident related crashes in Gretna in the last year? Get a clue, you are ignorant to think he was not at fault. A life could have been taken at his hand.

So what did he do that he is no longer in Omaha? Anyone know?

Are you a home inspector Bob or did you just see the Money Pit too many times?

Posted by: david on Nov 18, 2008 at 03:53 PM
Did that jerk really deserve a mansion . . . ? NOT ! ! !

Posted by: MH on Nov 18, 2008 at 03:22 PM
I have heard that the house has a bad black mold problem from sitting vancant for so long.

Posted by: Lis on Nov 18, 2008 at 03:20 PM
My ex used to work for Kush. He was a real jerk from what I heard. I heard stories about some of the parties he used to throw out there....I bet he lost everything which is why he is selling....Too bad it had to happen to such a "nice" guy...

Posted by: Patty on Nov 18, 2008 at 03:10 PM
He packed up his stuff and got out of this stupid city. His son's private graduation party was busted by the police. I don't think i've ever been to a graduation party where no one was drinking. GOOd for you ROd Kush, get the heck out of this hill billy town. Cops have nothing better to do than bust graduation parties! Police get a clue!

Posted by: Rod on Nov 18, 2008 at 02:47 PM
Didn't Rod Kush already donated this home to Trinity church to avoid the taxes? I believe a read this at one point. At any rate the person would purchase this house got a great deal.

That 1.625 Million is a drop in the bucket compared to what he OWES.

Posted by: ann on Nov 18, 2008 at 02:35 PM
What is a charity going to do with it? who pays 1.6 million and donates it to charity? What is the deal with Rod Kush? Why has he disappeared?

Posted by: T on Nov 18, 2008 at 02:03 PM
Kush was the seller? I figured that sleeze was in foreclosure....

Posted by: Anonymous on Nov 18, 2008 at 02:02 PM
Why does any house need 10 bathrooms?

Posted by: bob on Nov 18, 2008 at 01:53 PM
buyer beware! Or in this case a free gift to charity may cost them in the long run! Have this home THOROUGHLY inspected!

WHO CARES ??????

Posted by: Tonya on Nov 18, 2008 at 12:53 PM
Jesus, he was living like he was a famous celebrity. Who needs that much house?!?!?!? Why is he selling all his stuff? Is he in trouble with the law or does he owe money for a divorce or something? I'm glad to see it all go. He used to think he was such a bad a**, having to put his name on everything and now he's disappeared from the scene. The only bad thing about it is that NFM needs some serious competition to bring the prices down!!!
