A piece of history rolled into Omaha on Sunday. A stagecoach, one of only 22 of its kind left in the country, now makes its home at the Wells Fargo Bank at 19th and Douglas.
This one was recently refurbished as part of the bank's $8 million renovation. It weighs 2,500 pounds and had to be disassembled and then reassembled to fit into the building.
Wells Fargo's regional president says the stagecoach is a symbol of commerce for the company, but he's thankful for more modern-day modes of transportation.
"In a parade it's pretty comfortable, but when you think people went from Omaha to Sacramento it took 'em 15 days with 18 people in the stagecoach,” says Kirk Kellner. “I think I'll just stay with the parade."
Kellner says the cost for a trip back then was about $300 one way.
