A 17-year-old Omaha girl was critically injured in a head-on crash near Atlantic, Iowa Tuesday.
The crash happened about 8:05 a.m. on Highway 71, a few miles south of the Atlantic exit on Interstate 80.
The Iowa State Patrol says Milana Jordan was traveling north on Highway 71when she attempted to pass a vehicle in front of her. When she entered the oncoming lane to pass, a semi was heading in her direction. Her 1998 Honda Civic collided head-on with the semi.
Jordan was transported to the Nebraska Medical Center. The driver of the semi, 58-year old Gale Arvin Premer of Villisca, Iowa, was not injured.
