The College World Series is in full swing at Rosenblatt Stadium, but there are little problems that most visitors do not see. The Medical Reserve Corps along with volunteers work to keep players and fans happy and healthy.

Volunteers work along side the Omaha Fire Department Medics, the group is made up of local EMT's and physicians.

Alane Taylor is in her second year at the CWS and she is a volunteer fire fighter and EMT with Blair.

"It's good, it's a lot of fun," said Taylor.

The main purpose for the Medical Reserve Corps is to volunteer if a local disaster should ever occur.

"The real key is the relationship we build in working with them folks," said Chief Kevin Laughlin, Omaha Fire Department. "So if there ever was a disaster where we could have to call on them, the relationship is already built, we're use to working with them."

"Yeah it’s nice to work with them, get to know everybody, get to know how they do things," said Taylor. "They get more familiar with us, so if we are in a real emergency situation we have an idea of how their operation works, we are familiar with each other, it's more comfortable."

The volunteers get to watch some baseball on days when not much is going on. Friday on the other hand, the group was busy dealing with falls, scrapes, heat related problems and even a child sticking a finger in a fan.

"Yeah, some of the people, a little too much fried food, a little too much sun, not enough water," said Taylor.

The local Medical Reserve Corps is made up of 560 volunteers and five or six volunteers work at each College World Series games.
