Two men were arrested for aggravated assault after a fight broke out at a wedding reception in Council Bluffs Friday night.

Police were called to investigate a disturbance in Bayliss Park just after 10 p.m. According to officers, 23-year-old Clifford Ellis and 41-year-old Dean Sime arrived at the reception and started yelling obscenities.

Ellis allegedly hit one guest with brass knuckles. When two other guests stepped in to help, Sime pulled a knife and attacked them.

Twenty-three-year-old Justin Redden was cut on his throat, but refused medical treatment. Forty-year-old Ricky Thomas was stabbed in the stomach and arm. He was hospitalized in stable condition.

First of all, if you are going to comment on this site please use the appropriate language, language that indicates you are at least a high school graduate and can spell. With that said, this situation is not reflective of the people of Council Bluffs, nor is the fatal gun accident. Dumb, mean people and drug addicts live every where. Accidents occur everywhere. Unfortunately this is a rare event for Council Bluffs, which is why it has been largely publicized. Aren't these the kind of individuals they show case on Jerry Springer? Somebody give him a call.

I was at Bayliss Park Friday @ 7 and the wedding party was loud and obnoxiuos then. A guy mooned the bride and groom off the balcony after they got their pic taken by the fountain, and yes my children saw this. What a wonderful wedding party!

SO SINCE ABOUT HALF OF YOU ON HERE LIKE TO JUMP TO JUDGEMENT ON THE WEDDING PARTY IM GLAD THAT YOU ARE SO NARROWMINDED TO THINK THAT JUST CAUSE THERE IS A WEDDING GOIN ON IN A "DECENT" PART OF TOWN THAT THERE ISNT SOME FOOL WHO HAS NO PROBLEM WITH BEING DUMB AND CAUSING ISSUES ALL OVER A GUESTS SKIN COLOR.... k for one these guys were not invited to the wedding. they started yelling at a guest that was on the top floor and he decided to stand up for himself. the guy who was stabbed is going to be all right. he is already out of the hospital. the other guy who was cut is also very fine. the guy who got hit with the brass knuckles is also doing very well. just to update everyone on this story.

My husband and I were sitting at Bayliss enjoying some pizza twenty minutes before this happened and the wedding reception seemed exceptionally wild... can't say I'm surprised to see something like this in the news.

they were NOT invited guests. These two meth users ruined the best day in someones lives because they have no respect. Who starts a fight with random people at a wedding reception?

to CS did you ever think maybe it is a family member. just cause they are criminals doesnt make the bride or groom criminals. Get a life

The Judge is going to look at both of these losers standing before them and shake his or her head. brass knuckles, wedding reception. Isn't anything safe nowdays? Not with losers like this roaming the streets. Give'm 15 yrs each for the crime and stupidity.

Hopefully, the charges can be upped to attempted murder for the loser with the knife.

I guess what needs to be clarified is that these two men whos faces are no in the news, were not invited guests they were walking around causing trouble.

Are you kidding me? At a wedding reception, I guess nothing is sacred.

Posted by: CS on Oct 18, 2008 at 04:31 PM
Why worry so much about ruining the bride's day?? If she's inviting the likes of people like this to her wedding, than I can only imagine the level of class all the way around.

So whats the point Jason that it is better to be stabbed a few times than shot? I'm sure there are plenty of guns in CB.

Posted by: Terry on Oct 18, 2008 at 01:42 PM
This is just crazy. What a way for a coouple to remember their wedding receiption. Sounds like a planned attack to me. They need to be charged with felonies.

Posted by: Jason on Oct 18, 2008 at 01:27 PM
I guess its a good thing this was in CB and not Omaha....otherwise it would have been a gunfight.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 18, 2008 at 01:11 PM
Sounds like a planned attack. (Who brings brass knuckles to a wedding without planning to use them?) And the bride will remember this day for the rest of her life.
