A Douglas County District Court judge tossed out Ernie Chambers' lawsuit against God on Tuesday .

The state senator says he may appeal the decision.

Judge Marlon Polk threw it out stating that Chambers can't sue God if he can't serve papers on him.

Chambers disagreed with the judge's order, saying that since God knows everything God had notice of the lawsuit.

The lawsuit was filed over a year ago. It sought a permanent injunction to prevent God from committing acts of violence such as tornadoes and earthquakes.

One of the goals of the lawsuit, according to Chambers, is to make the point that anyone can sue or be sued.

The state senator has 30 days to appeal the ruling.

I'm a believer! According to "matt", resisting one bad piece of legislation (even if it passes) makes up for decades of sabotaging good legislation! Sign me up as an Ernie supporter!

Posted by: God on Oct 16, 2008 at 10:23 PM
Ernie you are not playing with a full deck. Get some help.

Posted by: A on Oct 16, 2008 at 10:18 PM
For once, I'm on god's side..... Oh come on, we cannot take this seriously. Why is this man not on his medications, nor is he in that nice little jacket with all the buckles and straps? Kinda reminds me of those movies where the insane asylum patient is portraying a doctor and there are those gullible fools who actually take him seriously. Hmmm thought that happened only in the movies...

Please encourage Ernie to go back to being a Barber. Really, his demeanor, and mannerism fits better in that type of environment than with society in a whole.

Posted by: matt on Oct 16, 2008 at 08:22 PM
None of you will ever "get" how much Ernie Chambers has helped this state....until he is gone. Example: Safe Haven law. If any of you who criticize first and ask questions later took time to actually pay attention to your legislature you would know the legislature wanted to have kids dropped at the fire stations. And just what should the firemen do when they get a kid and a fire at the same time? What should a fireman do with a kid? Should he take your emergency call or babysit? EC got them to drop that idea but they wanted the safe haven law pushed through. Now, obviously they have problems with it and won't push a special session. This is a very small example of what we can expect when he is gone. You don't have to agree with the guy but badmouthing him without knowing anything about his work is typical Nebraska. Chambers doesn't "make" you look stupid, you r doing a fine job.

to Anonymous on Oct 16, 2008 at 05:16 AM from : a God fearing person Ernie and all you other people who believe you will not answer to God.....well have fun in eternal damnation!

Posted by: mv on Oct 16, 2008 at 04:12 PM
Sorry. I'm not an exec. But I do have a job. And I think Ernie Chambers is one of the best things that ever happened to this racist, backwards state.

Posted by: bob on Oct 16, 2008 at 11:50 AM
This is a good representation of how socially undeveloped certain groups are in the USA. Reminds me a bit of the witch hunts carried out in Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries, 400 years ago!

Posted by: To MV on Oct 16, 2008 at 11:11 AM
The reason us "boring people" are so outraged is because he is wasting money in a time that we can not afford it to be wasted. If you stand behind this idiot, why don't you fit the bill for it then? Any normal person would be mad about this, I can't believe your not. You must either be one of these execs making WAY to much money, or you are wasting our money too (get a job).

Posted by: Cogs on Oct 16, 2008 at 11:02 AM
Wow, I'd be proud if my vote helped elect this racist clown...Not

Posted by: Jamie on Oct 16, 2008 at 08:36 AM
It's funny how this story has changed a few times since he first sued... First he was suing to protest frivolous lawsuits. He felt that the gal who sued the state because they wouldn't let her use the words "rape" and "sexual assault" in her rape trial was suing for frivolous reasons. Now it's to make a point that anyone can sue or be sued? Really? Whatever... Ernie, PLEASE find something productive to do with your intelligence.

Posted by: Kent on Oct 16, 2008 at 05:22 AM
Awww, that's too bad. Just wondering, what court costs will Ernie pay for filing and pushing this frivolous lawsuit? What? You mean we taxpayers had to pay everything? Hmm. Are they taking nominations for testing the space shuttle replacement? I nominate Ernie Chambers for the honor of being on the first test flight.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 16, 2008 at 05:16 AM
I don't always agree with it, but Ernie has a point as usual. If we live our lives as though someday we will all answer to God. Isn't it only fair that God proves himself at least one time? If not, what kind of God is that? Why do we give foreign aid to Israel? Israel is one of the world's richest countries but the U.S. gives Israel for foreign aid than all other countries combined. Why? Because they are God's chosen people. Know what Israel's leading nation product is? Weapons. Yeah, sounds real Godly to me. I guess it shows who's really running the show in Washtington. I'm glad I'm not a Christian. Then it would be a sin for me to think this deeply

Posted by: Henry on Oct 16, 2008 at 12:47 AM
Ernie needs to reimburse the state for the amount of time and money wasted on this law suit. It's the only way from keeping people like him from doing it again!

Posted by: leslie on Oct 15, 2008 at 09:39 PM
If Chambers did win the lawsuit then insurance companies would notbe able to use the act of god to avoid paying out insurance on such events.

Posted by: Timmeh on Oct 15, 2008 at 06:45 PM
Tim to another tim, this has nothing to do with the Safe Haven law. The Republicans don't make this state a laughing stock, people like Ernie and psuedo-Republicans like Chuck Hagel do.

Posted by: Ryan on Oct 15, 2008 at 06:25 PM
Absolute Idiot. Tim you are right up there too.

Posted by: Renee on Oct 15, 2008 at 05:01 PM
All I can say is pray for him. Pray that the lord will forgive him for his short comings. Pray that GOD will give him guidance and show him the way.

Posted by: Barb on Oct 15, 2008 at 04:49 PM
As some already said, what a waste of time and $$$. I say let's make Ernie the court jester! He is making Omaha out to look like one big joke of a city. Great publicity..thanks for nothing, Ernie. Go get a hobbie that will use only your $$$! You obviously have too much time on your hands. Volunteer at the Nebraska Humane Society and walk the dogs.

Posted by: tim on Oct 15, 2008 at 04:00 PM
ernie is no idiot. wasn't he the one of the senators who opposed this " safe haven " law? republicans make nebraska a laughing stock all over the county.

Posted by: mv on Oct 15, 2008 at 03:43 PM
I love you ernie! I think it is a riot the way you get people all fired up. Just look at the number of people, some on the verge of a coronary, that have responded with such mock outrage. Ernie, you give these boring people something to complain about and they should be thanking you! Seriously, I will miss you in the Nebraska Legislature! Just remember: They had to change the law to remove you. Because you would never have been voted out. Kind of goes against everything democracy is supposed to be about, but they got their way.

Posted by: WOW on Oct 15, 2008 at 03:30 PM
Don't worry ... once he is finished with the Senate he wants to work his brilliant schemes into (or on to) the Learning Community. That's should be enough to make anyone tremble!!!

Posted by: shawn on Oct 15, 2008 at 03:28 PM
He’s pathetic. This is an example of people voting on name recognition. He has done anything in years. Him and Frank Brown needs to be removed from politics.

Posted by: D on Oct 15, 2008 at 03:19 PM
Why dosn't the court just fine the senator for a frivolous lawsuit and get on to meaningful court business. And the news media charge him & James Martin Davis for wasted air time? Time is money after all.

Posted by: mary on Oct 15, 2008 at 02:53 PM
With all the problems in the world - let alone North Omaha - this is the only thing this man can think of to do? He is supposed to be a "leader"....give me a break!

Posted by: Wow on Oct 15, 2008 at 02:33 PM
Surely someone is gonna make a movie about this man. What a tale it would be. How can anyone look at this and not see an individual that clearly needs mental help. No "normal" person does stuff like this just to prove this kind of point. Get a grip man.

Posted by: T on Oct 15, 2008 at 02:24 PM
Correction: He needs something better to do with his time, and OUR money! Seriously, How could anybody like this guy?

Posted by: anonymous on Oct 15, 2008 at 02:06 PM
I can't wait til January when this racist fool is GONE!!!!

Posted by: TJ on Oct 15, 2008 at 01:52 PM
Looks like Ernie had nothing better to do with his time... see ya in Hell, buddy!

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 15, 2008 at 01:48 PM
why does he want to make this point? don't we already know that anyone can be sued for anything?? he needs something better to do with his time.

Posted by: WTF!!! on Oct 15, 2008 at 01:48 PM
Are you serious!!!! What is wrong with this man! I think he has lost his marbles! There is so much going on in todays society and especially in the North Omaha area and our biggest worry is sueing GOD! Are you kidding me! This is why there is so much violence going on in Omaha, everyone is worried about something else. Sueing god and building baseball stadiums and building bridges and all the irrelevant issues we hear about day in and day out...We need to re-evaluate what really matters and takes presidence and refocus our efforts on making Omaha a better community and a stronger city. We have homeless kids living in our streets, we have kids being abandoned, we have shootings every night, we have drug infested neighborhoods and schools, wake up people and lets get back to the basics. We need GOD in our lives, in our schools, and in our communities. Lets not X him out.

Posted by: momo on Oct 15, 2008 at 01:47 PM
Ernie.....Go away for GODS SAKE!!!!!!!

Posted by: G on Oct 15, 2008 at 01:17 PM
How stupid is this? Only in Omaha.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 15, 2008 at 01:13 PM
This guy is a few fries short of a Happy Meal. Is he serious? Like this is not a waste of tax payers money!

Posted by: rollingmyeyes on Oct 15, 2008 at 01:03 PM
Are there not enough things to make processes and government a joke without purposely adding to it? To think that he gets press time is absurd and he is supposed to care about our community yet blatently wastes our money with this game just because he can and he can't stand to be out of the spotlight? Next will come the discrimination claim if Ernie sticks to his M.O.

Posted by: KN on Oct 15, 2008 at 01:02 PM
Chambers- Thank God you are no longer in any kind of power. You say you are so worried about (as you have said) your people, quit wasting their money. What is the point of this? All you are doing is wasting tax payers money. How can anyone take you serious? You have been a joke for the last couple years. Get out of the headlines. Nobody likes you. You are just proving to people that they don't need to follow the laws of the judicial system.

Posted by: Kyle on Oct 15, 2008 at 12:57 PM
... Seriously, Mr. Chambers. You've already made all of Nebraska look stupid across the country. The system is messed up, we get it. WHY APPEAL???

Posted by: Mac on Oct 15, 2008 at 12:51 PM
Hey Ernie looks like god does know everything and had your law suit dismissed.Maybe next time you can do something less frivolous like sue Mother Nature.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 15, 2008 at 12:47 PM
Let him appeal if he agrees to pay all the people involved in such a ridiculous case. He pays judge, attorneys, and all the other staff that it takes to run a courtroom. If he does that I am just fine with the appeal, otherwise don't waste the time of the courts and money.

Posted by: Keith on Oct 15, 2008 at 12:42 PM
Yes, God is all knowing. He obviously knew chambers was going to file this lawsuit and is laughing his head off. Serve papers? Not going to happen. The devil was once one of Gods angels until he challenged Jesus and was cast out. If the devil couldn't do it person, what do you think paper is in the eyes of our savior?

Posted by: Jim on Oct 15, 2008 at 12:41 PM
With all due respect (NONE), Ernie Chambers is an idiot! He is right though, God knows EVERYTHING even the fact that Senator (soon to be Mr.) Chambers is an arrogant man who enjoys beating his chest & hearing the sound of his own voice. He has gone out of his way to waste tax-payers' money & inhibit the Legislative process. Nebraska will be much better without him! Thank you Judge Polk for standing up to him & doing the right thing by tossing the case out of court.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 15, 2008 at 12:29 PM
Thank goodness Ernie was tossed out of the Legislature!

Posted by: Susie on Oct 15, 2008 at 12:25 PM
Seriously he is a waste of time and money.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 15, 2008 at 12:21 PM
If Chambers appeals, then it will show how much of a fool he really is. Focusing on the shootings in his district is what he ought to be doing.
