An Omaha teen waiting to meet a girl was robbed at gunpoint inside his own vehicle by an apparent acquaintance of the girl Saturday morning.

Eighteen-year-old Jeffrey Schaffart was stopped in the parking lot of the Great Escape Movie Theater near 72nd and Crown Point Avenue just before 12:30 a.m. He told police he was meeting a girl he'd met the night before.

When she pulled up next to him another man got out of the car and got into Schaffart's vehicle, pulled a gun and took some money.

A fight started over the car keys and the suspect opened fire, damaging Schaffart's vehicle. The suspect and the girl then drove away in their vehicle.

This is scary because its always women that you think about being put in this situation. Seems like men have something to be worried about also. And once again, here we go blaming the area rather than the action or the people involved. And to "This is Nuts," it was dark, there probably wasn't anyone around hense why someone had the courage to pull something like this, and the young man was probably to upset to notice anything.

What a crooked loser! Playing young men has gone criminally extreme. Now they are at risk of being robbed. At least the young man is ok. ..

Let me see if I got the story right. 18 year old meets girl who tells him to meet her the next night at 12:30 a.m. in an area known for trouble? Jeffrey is very very lucky.

If we had much stiffer penaltys for gun crimes, these kinds of crimes would not happen!

I believe there was a big fight or a shooting at the theater out by Oakview a couple of years ago. I guess that theater won't make it either?

And let me guess no one saw anything. No license plate or discribtion of the car or anything.

I knew it wouldn't be long before violence ensued our new shopping oulet. Just a matter of time before the businesses start closing. It's ironic that these thugs and others in north Omaha complain about no employement opportunities in North Omaha. Businesses don't want to deal with thugs, shootings, roberries, etc. If you want businesses to stay in North Omaha then stop the violence, stop the robberies. There use to be a Shopko on North 30th St, but they jumped ship because of the constant robberies. If you want something good in our part of town then become GOOD citizens and help our community instead of being a burdon on it.

With violence like that, that theater will not make it.
