A Fenton, Missouri woman was arrested Saturday following a high-speed chase along Interstate 80 that damaged several Nebraska State Patrol vehicles, but caused no major injuries.

The pursuit began shortly before 1 p.m. The car was heading eastbound on I-80 past Giltner at speeds topping 100 mph.

The vehicle changed course at the Goehner and Beaver Crossing interchanges as troopers tried to use several maneuvers to get the car to stop. It eventually landed in a ditch after trying to pass a semi along the shoulder.

Thirty-eight-year-old Jeanette Aston faces several charges, including willful reckless driving and possession of methamphetamine.

Yeah sorry Cindy I'm with Calvin, your comments was pretty uninformed. How do you propose people are notified what's going on? The officers involved are dealing with keeping each other informed and doing the best the can to protect the public while apprehending this fool. Things happen so fast that by the time an officer that may not be directly involved attempted to call one radio station, let alone the dozens of ones people could be listening too, the pursuit is over.

Meth users should get life in prison on the first offense.

That makes sense Cindy ... lets stop the pursuit so we can notify every car on the highway (megaphones, pullovers, signs, lights) what our intentions are. Safety notification that someone is coming our way at 100mph. Maybe if there is time left over we can actually apprehend the jerk. Smart thinkin girl. You should have a V8.

I was entering the onramp at York as 3 cop cars raced by me. They were waiting a few miles down and almost threw the stop sticks under my car. They should have let people know what was going on.I saw a total of 13 cop cars with lights flashing at high speeds.

Bill Have your heard of that little clause "beyond a reasonable doubt." That is why that car has to be stopped with that driver. Say someone steals your plates and steals a car like your. Would you want a warrant issued for you because the plates said that car was registered to you? I sure as heck would not. Until they can produce a device to eliminate pursuits thay are a vital part of Law enforcement.

There are few cruisers that have stop sticks. Sometimes when you need them, the officer that has the sticks is on another call......like assisting with out of control kids which is a complete waste of officers time.

Radio is used to call cars ahead to deploy sticks. Plates on vehicles of criminals are often improperly displayed on the wrong vehicle or are not validly registered. Even if police know who the car is registered to, that does not tell them who was driving it.

Are we trying to use too many cars in these type of chases? The radio should be used to have someone stationed ahead to deploy stop sticks. The plates should give enough info to issue and arrest citation
