Nebraska fans will again have to pay for pay-per-view to see Saturday’s game against San Jose State. Those who do want to make sure last weekend's problem is fixed and they get what they pay for.
If you paid $29.95 for last week’s Western Michigan game you know the deal. The picture and sound was in and out. Then for some unexplained reason the game jumped from one point to another and you missed several plays.
Eric Gates owns the Elbow Room lounge and paid hundreds of dollars to get the pay-per-view for his customers.
"They were disappointed and I had to keep reminding them it was Cox's problem and they were aware of it and they were trying to fix it. That way they would understand that part of it so they knew it wasn't the bar’s fault and take it out on the employees or just each other.”
Cox Communications says the problems with the pay-per-view signal did not come from them. “We called Fox Sports and asked them what was happening and they let us know it was a mechanical malfunction in their production truck,” says Kristen Gohr with Cox. “They explained that on air so this is out of Cox's control."
If there were problems with anything in the pay-per-view broadcast that Cox controlled, Cox did offer a refund. It says Saturday's broadcast will be better. “Fox has assured us that this week’s game is going to be broadcast cleanly, however if our customers do experience any sort of technical difficulties we do encourage them to contact us.”
Gates will pay for Saturday's game and hopes he gets a better picture and better production, but he will settle for the same outcome as last week’s game, a Nebraska win.
