Fox, Cox say Saturday's broadcast won't have technical glitches

Nebraska fans will again have to pay for pay-per-view to see Saturday’s game against San Jose State. Those who do want to make sure last weekend's problem is fixed and they get what they pay for.

If you paid $29.95 for last week’s Western Michigan game you know the deal. The picture and sound was in and out. Then for some unexplained reason the game jumped from one point to another and you missed several plays.

Eric Gates owns the Elbow Room lounge and paid hundreds of dollars to get the pay-per-view for his customers.

"They were disappointed and I had to keep reminding them it was Cox's problem and they were aware of it and they were trying to fix it. That way they would understand that part of it so they knew it wasn't the bar’s fault and take it out on the employees or just each other.”

Cox Communications says the problems with the pay-per-view signal did not come from them. “We called Fox Sports and asked them what was happening and they let us know it was a mechanical malfunction in their production truck,” says Kristen Gohr with Cox. “They explained that on air so this is out of Cox's control."

If there were problems with anything in the pay-per-view broadcast that Cox controlled, Cox did offer a refund. It says Saturday's broadcast will be better. “Fox has assured us that this week’s game is going to be broadcast cleanly, however if our customers do experience any sort of technical difficulties we do encourage them to contact us.”

Gates will pay for Saturday's game and hopes he gets a better picture and better production, but he will settle for the same outcome as last week’s game, a Nebraska win.

No, Zac. We read the article. In fact, if YOU read the other comments, you would have noticed at least three other people mentioned the Fox problems.

Did no one read the article. The problems were with the Fox broadcast not with Cox. The announcers even said as much during the game.

What's with this title: "Husker Fans Don't Want Pay-Per-View Repeat." Heck, we don't want Pay-Per-View, period!

That's the difference between Miami fans and NU fans, we want to watch our team, even if they aren't doing the best. The sell out record is proof. Fair weather fans of Miami could learn a thing from the loyalty of Husker fans.

Business: look it up. Go to a sports bar, "sig" it's FREE. Buy your dinner there. Or, go to a friends house, maybe if you spent less time crying online you'd figure out you have plenty of options. Instead, people cry like babies not realizing if there WASNT PPV REAL fans like me couldnt even watch the game on TV, NETV makes NO sense, they don't have the money to do that. I wish some of you would actually know what your talking about before you talk on here. You make Husker fans look like panicy, ignorant fools.

Do you realize the problems were from Fox Sports, as Fox even said they were having issues? Before you point the blame, have a clue. People like you are why slander and libel is illegal, you speak with no knowledge

Boy!! You Husker fans want some cheese with your whine? It's frikin college football..Get over it and get a life..Why would you Pay per anything to see it. Maybe if you guys stopped making it big business Cox and whoever else wouldnt be ripping you off..

I myself don't have the extra $30 per week to pay to either watch the game at home on pay-per-view or go to a sports bar to watch it. Why don't we allow the game on NETV (like a lot of other Nebraska sports) or have it air on ESPN or Fox sports so more people could watch it?

Way to do the right thing, Cox Communications! Time to check out DirecTV!

I suppose the college will try to get as many bucks out of fans as possible in these hard economic times. Luckily, most of these games on Pay for View aren't challenging ones.

Too bad its not about the sport anymore its about the $$. They should air the Nebraska games on the Nebraska ETV network so all the nebraskans can enjoy the game. I myself will not be watching them play as i didn't last week either.

Why aren't these games in HD? For $30 bucks a pop they should be!

the video went out for 30 seconds!!!! Come on! If it was longer, it was your crappy cabling, GET IT FIXED. Before SATURDAY!

Of course Fox knows that Nebraska fans are willing to pay to see the Huskers. Is there any other college games on a pay per view basis? Perhaps none of the other college fans would put up with having to pay to see their team. Perhaps next year all of Nebraska football games will be on pay per view since this is working out for Fox sports.
