A Nebraska state trooper was among seven men arrested in a prostitution sting in Lincoln.

Lincoln officers conducted the sting Friday and Saturday. Police say Trooper Kerry Rogers of Omaha was among the men to solicit an undercover officer.

Police say the men all offered money for various sex acts.

Rogers is a state trooper with the traffic services division. The patrol says he has been placed on leave pending the outcome of an investigation.

The reason why the others weren't "dragged through the mud" as you say, is because when you become a member of law enforcement you are held at a higher moral standard than the rest of the community in hopes that you uphold all laws that you have to enforce. I'm not judging anyone because everyone in everything has done something that is unspeakable. I just wanted to clear that up.

Posted by: perfect?? on Aug 28, 2008 at 09:49 PM
i am sure all of you are perfect and have never broke a law or done something immoral. actually you all have you just haven't got caught. OPD keep your trap shut you make OPD look even worse. I am guessing your not the department spokesperson with the way you talk.

Posted by: w on Aug 27, 2008 at 05:37 PM
kerry is a good person who made a horrible decision. cops are human too - why isn't the names of the other 6 people involved being drug through the mud along with his?

Posted by: S on Aug 27, 2008 at 09:06 AM
To OPD.. did you really just threaten Citizen? IF you are really a OP officer you have proven Citizen's point.....This State Patrol Officer did use poor judgement. But the whole point is that he is the Law and should be treated different than the others arrested, he is (was) a cop.

Posted by: mike on Aug 27, 2008 at 08:08 AM
wow. the mentality of OPD is exactly what is wrong with the police department here in omaha.

Posted by: TO: OPD on Aug 26, 2008 at 09:31 PM
That probably wasn't the smartest comment you have ever made....Now what do you think the people who have a bad image of you already are going to say? "See, I told ya OPD is just out to get me". THINK before OPENING YOUR "DONUT" hole....HaHa

Posted by: on the beat on Aug 26, 2008 at 05:01 PM
Kerry is a good person who made a really poor decision. This has nothing to do with him being a trooper at this point. If he was on duty at the time, it's a different story. Immoral, yes, but there were 6 other people who got caught in the same sting that aren't being drug through the mud like Rogers is. Cops are human too. They make mistakes. I'm quite sure no one here has done anything they would regret if you were plastered on the news.

Posted by: To Citizen on Aug 26, 2008 at 03:35 PM
Hope you don't ever need assistance from the law enforcement you deem so low.

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 26, 2008 at 03:30 PM
Why is it that when one person who happens to be in law enforcement does something some people try to paint the whole group with the same brush. Rogers was the one that was soliciting, not OPD or the state patrol. He should be held responsible for his actions, not others in law enforcement who take the "to protect and serve" seriously.

Posted by: Yawn on Aug 26, 2008 at 03:27 PM
Seen a lot of GI's in my time doing the same thing overseas. Does that mean they need to be booted out and are not fit to defend the United States? Anybody? Hello?

Posted by: down with ignorance on Aug 26, 2008 at 03:17 PM
The fact that he is in law enforcement is minor. I'm tired of people bashing law enforcement for the few bad apples. Every industry has bad apples, it's only sensationalized when it's someone in law enforcement. His bad act should not reflect on all the good that all the others do. Before you bash law enforcement, walk a mile in their shoes. I am not an officer but I am very thankful they are out there protecting me and mine.

Posted by: Rachel on Aug 26, 2008 at 01:51 PM
Seriously....I hope nothing ever happens to you and your family that you need OPD!

Posted by: RM on Aug 26, 2008 at 01:44 PM
If prostitution is such a terrible crime then why is the penalty so low. Legalize it regulate it collect taxes and fees. Let the ones who want to engage in that type of activity do so at there own free will. Alcohol is legal and it causes a lot more problems to society than prostitution does.

Citizen where do you come up with this nonsense? No better than an Omaha cop? What the hell does that mean? Last time I checked OPD fired, arrested and helped prosecute a so called cop who sexually assaulted a prostitute. Another OPD officer was fired a few years back when he tried to solicite an undercover officer. Seems to me OPD holds their officers accountable. We'll see if the State Patrol will do the same. If you have some facts to back up your ignorant statements, I'm sure we'd all love to hear them. Too bad the Original Cop has been put in check or I'm sure he'd have plenty to say to your ignorance. Com'on OC you can't let this ignorance slide.

The Police are human too. Sometimes they make mistakes. Yes, the leave is paid, PENDING investigation. People like Citizen spew their anti cop attitude. When Citizen needs help who does he call? OPD.

Posted by: anony on Aug 26, 2008 at 10:24 AM
Phil you should live in the state it is legal since you think prostitution is so great, probably why Nebraska is the highest STD capital of the world...pretty gross and immoral if you ask me. Wonder what your mom would think about that comment.......

Posted by: Amy on Aug 26, 2008 at 06:00 AM
The Nebraska State Patrol obviously has something wrong with its system. First a racist Trooper who was a member of a KKK website and now a now some "John" who was so pathetic about being aroused he went to buy sex. What a disgrace.

Posted by: jp on Aug 26, 2008 at 05:46 AM
Bad cop, yes...As bad as OPD? I personally don't think OPD is as bad as "CITIZEN" says they are. I bet he calls the cops when he needs help. Grow up man, would you do that job?

Posted by: OPD on Aug 26, 2008 at 04:38 AM
To Citizen: I hope that I never see you in Omaha, because I will find a way to arrest you just for that stupid comment. Hope your tags are up to date and everything else. See ya around!

bad decision, good person

Posted by: Phil on Aug 25, 2008 at 10:39 PM
It's not a crime. It shouldn't be illegal and it isn't illegal in all 50 states.

Posted by: MV on Aug 25, 2008 at 10:21 PM
It takes an unprecedented amount of stupidity to be a police officer and get caught in a police sting. These are the people that are paid to protect us. Kinda scary, huh?

Posted by: Dave on Aug 25, 2008 at 05:54 PM
Nice to know the troopers are such good upstanding citizens. Likely he'll just get a slap on the wrist and be returned to 'serve' and 'protect' us some more~!

Posted by: why on Aug 25, 2008 at 05:30 PM
whay does law enforcement spend its time on this stuff when lot of other serious crimes needs to be taken care of

Posted by: OOOOPS!! on Aug 25, 2008 at 05:28 PM
OOOPs! I have said it once, and I will say it again! Make prostitution legal, tax it, inspect it, and market it!

Posted by: Ex Brit on Aug 25, 2008 at 04:57 PM
Mea Culpa I should think...rather embarrassing for this officer and his department!

Posted by: Rather Not say on Aug 25, 2008 at 04:50 PM
How sad.

Posted by: Archie Leach on Aug 25, 2008 at 04:39 PM
You're a cop. Shouldn't you know a sting when you see one?

Posted by: Ouch on Aug 25, 2008 at 04:29 PM
What a slap in the face and mockery to your co-workers and your agency that you felt compelled to try and "be above the law". I hope people on this board don't lump all troopers in the same boat as Mr. Rogers.

Posted by: Julie on Aug 25, 2008 at 04:25 PM
What an idiot!

Posted by: Citizen on Aug 25, 2008 at 04:22 PM
If he is allowed to keep his job he is no better than an Omaha cop and that is about as low as one can go in law enforcement. And even if he is fired OPD will be happy to hire him.

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 25, 2008 at 03:42 PM
On leave? Paid I assume. Why not fired?

Posted by: Amy on Aug 25, 2008 at 03:30 PM
What a loser! We have an officer fighting for his life in the hospital after a terrible criminal shot him up and then we have someone like this who is suppose to be a brother officer and protect and serve the people of Nebraska! What a disgrace to the Nebraska Patrol and to all the officers who work to protect my family and neighbors. Get him off the streets and keep him off! No probation either...Nebraskan's are sick of seeing that happen with these sicko's! Let the criminals in jail pick his brain apart to why he is as sick as he is!

Posted by: Janet on Aug 25, 2008 at 03:26 PM
So...was it worth it?

Posted by: Billy on Aug 25, 2008 at 03:25 PM
Bad cop...no donut. Should be arrested for the moustache alone. How stupid are some of these guys. Never trust a cop with a moustache. Certainly brings about a question of his integrity. If I was a citizen having received a ticket from this guy, I would be looking for a way out.

Way to ruin your career.

Posted by: sandy on Aug 25, 2008 at 03:06 PM
gosh, he must have called in sick the day this "sting" was discussed and when and where it was going to take place...too bad he thought he needed to be served more than his oath, "protect and serve"...he has presumably lost a respectable job and humiliated his family...

Posted by: JLL on Aug 25, 2008 at 03:01 PM
Shame on Kerry Rogers. As someone who is to protect and serve the people he is setting a bad example for the young kids and teens that probably looked up to him.

Posted by: anony on Aug 25, 2008 at 02:19 PM
Tax dollars spent well....

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 25, 2008 at 02:18 PM
HUM and we are suppose to respect these guys!! Hang him if he is guilty--they seem to think they can do anything and get away with it just because they are law enforcement officers..Lookin for fun in all the wrong places!!
