Montclair is an established Omaha neighborhood where homeowners take pride in the looks of their property. But for several years they've been complaining to city inspectors about an eyesore.

The neighborhood is near 138th and Center.

Sheriff's deputies served an eviction order for a mortgage company but the homeowner didn't just leave with his belongings.

Marilyn Hooper, president of the Montclair Homeowners Association says, "He took the doors and windows off when he vacated the property."

Neighbors have made several complaints to city inspectors about the driveway that they say has been torn out for two years.

The eviction means the house now belongs to the mortgage company which allowed neighbors to look inside. They took photographs that show a mess left behind in every room but a repair crew has already been hired so the home can be secured. That's important with an elementary school just a block away.

Hooper says, "I'm hoping that we can turn this property around. We have great neighborhood and I hope we can pull together to make this negative a positive."

Montclair homeowners take pride in well-kept houses and yards but this house has been the talk of the neighborhood with its unpaved driveway and front yard junk pile. In the back yard, stuffed deer heads are dismounted and strewn across the dirt alongside a cow's skull.

Omaha's chief code inspector says that the ongoing dispute with the homeowner led to an ordinance change. Property owners are now required to have hard surfaced driveways between the curb cut and their garage.
