Federal Disaster Aid to Nebraska for the storms of May 22 through June 24th has exceeded $4.2 million.

Individuals and business owners have been approved for the disaster aid to help in their recovery from the thunderstorms, tornadoes and flooding on those dates.

That word came Tuesday from the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Applicants who have any questions with claims after August 19 are asked to call the FEMA Help Line at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or (TTY) 1-800-462-7585 for anyone with a speech or hearing impairment.

Assistance is also available on the Web.

The counties declared eligible for disaster assistance are Buffalo, Butler, Colfax, Custer, Dawson, Douglas, Gage, Hamilton, Jefferson, Kearney, Lancaster, Platte, Richardson, Sarpy, Holt, and Saunders.

I am just wondering , to whom did all this disaster money go to? Those with insurance already? Those with the ability to pay for the damage? I know of someone who has no insurance. Lives on about $650 per month and cannot get one red cent to help with fixing the roof. Which would only be about $700 or so. Not including labor. I wonder...where this millions of dollars help is going???

But the 100-mph wind storm that did the most damage was June 27th? That damage doesn't qualify?

I don't understand FEMA. I was denied a claim through FEMA because I have home owners insurance. So who benefits? OHH! I know! The irresponsible people that don't have insurance! Lets give a shout out to the federal government giving handouts to those that are irresponsible!
