An autopsy has determined that an Avoca, Iowa man found dead inside a partially submerged car in Mosquito Creek last Friday died from a skull fracture.

Investigators are still looking into what caused 36-year-old Paul Freeman to veer off the road near Weston, just northeast of Iowa Western Community College. Toxicology results should be in later this week.

The vehicle was discovered by a bridge inspector who called emergency crews.

It's believed Freeman was on his way home from a meeting in Council Bluffs when he crashed.

I was a classmate of Paul's and lived a couple doors up from Michelle growing up. I used to babysit for Michelle and her siblings. She'd wait for them to fall asleep then sneak downstairs and we'd watch a movie or just hang out for a couple more hours. She and Paul were the cutest couple. I have a little 7 mo old girl and it just breaks my heart thinking what Michelle has gone thru this last week....to lose your husband and the father of your child and baby boy-to-be. I couldn't imagine. I just want to give Michelle a huge hug and may God watch over their family!
