A California man is in the Cass County, Iowa jail in Atlantic after a high-speed chase across southwest Iowa.

Cass County sheriff's Deputy Darby McLaren says the chase started Tuesday evening when he tried to stop a car heading east on Interstate 80 near Atlantic. The driver took off.

The chase ended about 50 miles away near De Soto, just west of Des Moines. The driver gave up after running over stop sticks in the road.

The driver, Jose Miguel Cisneros-Ballesteros, faces a number of traffic violations. He was jailed pending a court appearance.

He also faces extradition to California to face separate charges. Authorities didn't immediately know his hometown.

Officials say the car belongs to a woman who was a passenger in the car. She was released.

When are these idiots going to learn. A radio is way faster than a car and they just aren't going to win in a car chase with the police who have radio's. DUH Least he's going to see the hospitality of the inside of an Iowa Jail.
