A judge has approved nearly $82,000 in damages, legal fees and court costs for a woman who had been sexually harassed on the job at a state prisons warehouse in Lincoln.

Andrea Lacy had sued the state in 2006 after she was fired in 2005. She said co-workers at the Department of Correctional Services warehouse had used offensive language around her, touched her and made threats.

Lancaster County District Judge Karen Flowers approved the jury award of $60,000 in compensation and $20,000 for lawyers and nearly $2,000 in court costs.

A spokeswoman for Attorney General Jon Bruning, which had defended the corrections department, says she cannot comment.
