Four suspects are in custody linked to a shooting spree that damaged homes and vehicles on Sunday afternoon.
The case began with a report of a carjacking at 30th and Parker Street. A 1994 Plymouth Grand Caravan was reportedly taken at gunpoint by three suspects. A shot was fired into the air as the vehicle was taken.
At 4:11 p.m., officers received a shots fired call in the area of 27th Avenue and Fort Street. An officer found that a house at 2723 Fort had been hit by gunfire and the incident involved a vehicle that matched the description of the van stolen on North 30th. Two vehicles in the area were also hit by gunfire.
At 4:59 p.m., police responded to a shots fired call in the area of 29th and Spencer Street. Again, officers were told of that van being involved.
At 5:31 p.m., officers received another shots fired call in the area of 27th Avenue and Fort Street. The reporting parties believed the same minivan was involved.
The Omaha Police helicopter located that stolen van at 31st and Sorensen Parkway. The helicopter followed the van to 42nd and Fowler Avenue where officers chased the suspects and after a short foot pursuit, all four suspects were caught.
One of those suspects is identified as 19-year-old Charles Toles of 2411 Spencer. The other three are juveniles, ages 14, 15 and 17.
All those arrested were booked for robbery or accessory, use of a weapon to commit a felony and unlawful discharge into an occupied dwelling.
