A survivor of last December's shooting at Von Maur has returned to his passion for theater and is directing a church musical.

Fred Wilson, known for his offering of forgiveness soon after the tragedy, continues the long road to recovery. "Each of us is a light in this living and because we radiate a light we're going to change other people and shine that light on others."

Wilson was at First United Methodist Church at 70th and Cass Sunday where he's directing his first theater production since his brush with death. Directing is his passion. After 10 years of being away from it, he says it's time to get back into it.

His selection is “All I Really Need To Know I learned In Kindergarten,” a musical about how the world would be better if only we remembered the rules we learned as children.

It would be easy to be bitter and resentful after being the victim of such a horrible crime. Fred shows how such pain should be dealt with. Some say forgiveness is a sign of weakness. In reality, hatred is a sign of weakness; it's easy to give in to. Thank you, Fred, be being a wonderful example.
