A semi lost control on the rain slickened roads on I-80 just after 5 a.m. Saturday morning. No one was injured.

Police had to re-route eastbound traffic around the crash so crews could wash away the debris and fluids left behind by the rig.

The eastbound lanes were reopened around 8:30 a.m.

I drove I80 to Lincoln Saturday around 12:30 and the rain was really coming down. Before you call truckers dumb, maybe you should talk to the idiot in front of ME who drove for SEVEN MILES in the fast lane, right in the trucker's blind spot, so NO one could get out of the road spray without coming to a dead stop. Truckers cannot SEE you when you do that, people. That idiot should have either slowed down and gotten back in the right-hand lane, or sped up enough to at least get out of the blind spot before going to the RH lane.

driver error to fast for conditions thankful no one was hurt but no one to blame but the person behind the wheel

Why doesn't everybody who is slamming the driver just lighten up. Accidents happen, that is why they call them accidents. The driver did not mean for this to happen. We should all be thankful that the driver nor anyone else was hurt. Also, if you must criticize the poor driver, learn how to spell and use vocabulary!

accidents happen, and i'd like to see some of these know it all drivers handle 50,000 lbs plus the rig, in the rain, on slick road conditions, while dealing with the Omaha drivers that weave in and out of traffice like they think they're Mario Freakin' Andrede. I don't see the comedy in this, Omahans check status.

before we cast judgement and call names, maybe you should invest in spell check. Who is the dummy? Thank you to all of the drivers in their big rigs that make it so we have the products and resources we need delivered to us every day. God Bless you all.

As for Tom, you may want to learn how to spell before you call truck drivers dumb! As for Jim, unless you've been behind the wheel of a rig, don't judge! Thankfully, no one was hurt. The driver of the rig, he is a good driver with a good record.

another dum truck driver,Think there better than anyone else becouse the have 18 wheels. Im suprissed it does not happen more often,

I personally know the driver involved. He has driven for 25 yrs without an accident. I for one, am thankful that he was not hurt, and that no one else got hurt. But maybe mr. jim was in the rig with him and knows exactly what happened since he is able to make his comments on the road conditions or reactions of the driver.

Slip happens: once the rain started late Saturday AM, I slipped and fell on a hilly stretch of pavement, downtown. Today, I'm nursing some ugly bruises....

ALL DRIVERS NEED TO SLOW DOWN THAT MEANS YOU TOO, or maybe we should hire more police to enfoce the speed limit & other minor laws like thou shlt not kill.

And how many miles has "JIM" driven a big rig? What's he a professional at? Being an AH!!

Posted by: Jim on May 11, 2008 at 07:04 AM
There was nothing slick about that stretch of I-80. He was just not paying attention!

Driving a big rig is harder than you think. especially in bad weather.

People need to learn to drive!
