Two University of Iowa students each face up to two years in prison and fines totaling $6,250 for throwing cans of food from a sixth-story dorm window.
William Rinn and Garrett Frey were charged with assault, including the use or display of a weapon.
Police say they threw the cans at a group of men standing below on Friday. Frey yelled "look out" as he threw the can and a man standing below heard the shouting and moved. Police say if he hadn't moved, he would have been hit.
