    Driver's license pulled

Democrat Scott Kleeb will be using a driver this year on the campaign trail for U.S. Senate.

Kleeb, who teaches history at Hastings College, had his driver's license revoked earlier this month after he racked up six traffic tickets in just less than two years. One ticket was for making an illegal turn; the rest were for speeding.

Kleeb lost his 2006 bid for Nebraska's 3rd District House seat. He said Wednesday that he drove some 60,000 miles during the campaign, and half the tickets came during that time.

Kleeb says he regrets the speeding tickets. He can apply in September to get back his license.

The 32-year-old, Yale-educated former ranch hand faces Columbus industrialist Tony Raimondo and Larry Marvin of Fremont in the primary.

I'd vote for him and be his driver. So what he lost his liscense for speeding, at least it wasn't for DUI. Doesn't mean he won't be a good Senator. Vote for Kleeb

"At Least He's Not" That's the way most Democrats defend their candidates. How do you know he's not driving when NOT "on the campaign trail" as the story is only written? Of course he's not going to drive to a rally where his opponents could be watching. The issue is he didn't learn the first time, second time, third time, or forth time. Giving this kleeb the benefit of the doubt that the speeding was done on the interstate as opposed to a residential or school zone, the speed limit on I-80 is 75 MPH most places. To get a ticket he had to be doing at least 10 over or 85 MPH. He thumbed his nose at our laws put in effect to protect law abiding citizens from maniacs and the state had to act before someone got hurt or even killed. I like the sniper defense. How about at least he's not a sniper. ROTFLOL

Now, now everyone. Maybe he was under sniper fire throughout all 60,000 miles! Where's the compassion?!? (please note the sarcasm!)

At least he is not going to be like all the other people who drive on a suspended license. He is showing he is not above the law by not driving. As a police officer, you would be surprised how many people drive suspended and don't care that they are breaking the law. And there is a difference between traffic infractions (speeding tickets) and criminal behavior.

So-- is he paying for his own driver?

Posted by: Hank Location: Omaha on Mar 27, 2008 at 11:44 AM
That's right Jay. Another reason to vote Republican. It was the Republicans that lied to get us into a war with a country that had nothing to do with 9-11, while borrowing $12 billion a month from China for the last 5 years. This on top of our 40000 dead and wounded heroes due to Iraq. All the while cutting taxes for the wealthiest Americans. That's the party that respects the santity of life and is fiscally responsible!!! Yeah right, kool aid drinker. BTW- Have brought Osama Bin Laden to justice? Nice job GOP!!!! USA!!!! USA!!!

    Another reason to vote Repubican.

The law breaker wants to be a law maker. Is this the best US Senate candidate the Democrats can find?

Posted by: Tim on Mar 26, 2008 at 09:51 PM
If this is the worst dirt they've got on this guy, that he gets speeding tickets, then we've got nothing to worry about. Considering the politicians who get busted for sex in the men's room, soliciting prostitutes, and having inappropriate conduct with underage pages.

Posted by: Chris Location: Bellevue on Mar 26, 2008 at 08:44 PM
If a guy can get 4 ticket for speeding and one for an illegal turn and still think to himself "punch it" when facing a speed limit, I'm thinking no filibuster is going to stop him. Let's vote him in.

Posted by: Doris on Mar 26, 2008 at 07:29 PM
Obviously most of you don't live outstate where it can be 50-60 miles between towns. People out in that area speed all the time. Traffic is very rarely an issue there unless you are on the interstate. I've driven close to a hundred miles without ever seeing another car.

Posted by: Ima good driver on Mar 26, 2008 at 06:26 PM
He regrets the speeding tickets but not the illegal turn huh? With that smirk he doesn't look like he regrets anything. It's a good thing this menace to society is off our roads. Typical Democrat lawmaker making rules for everyone to follow but themselves.

Posted by: LA Location: Bellevue on Mar 26, 2008 at 05:07 PM
What a prime example of fine democratic leadership! There's a reason the Democratic party has a donkey as their symbol. Mr. Kleeb joined the right party to think that he could get elected after failing to meet the basic rules of society.

Posted by: citizen on Mar 26, 2008 at 04:43 PM
There's a good democrat for ya!! Do as I say, not as I do.

Posted by: MB Location: omaha on Mar 26, 2008 at 04:37 PM
Who cares??? You all act like you never speed. At least he's using a driver, unlike many of you who would probably just drive on a suspended license with no insurance. I can confidently say that very few of Nebraska's suspended drivers even think twice before getting behind the wheel. I applaud Mr. Kleeb for owning up to his traffic record and making the smart decision to have a driver rather than putting others at risk by driving without a license or insurance.

This is nothing but a partisan attack article. Proof of the Corporate media power in our blessed United States. Shame on you WOWT!

Posted by: Tom Location: Omaha on Mar 26, 2008 at 03:58 PM
He get's elected then his driver can speed for him, since he hasn't a license. Shall I vote for him. hmmmm, I think not!

Posted by: LOL Location: Omaha on Mar 26, 2008 at 03:53 PM
To What a Kleeb, that might be the funniest thing I've heard. I believe you have that backwards. Republicans vote for whoever has the R in front of his name. Why do you think dubya is still president?

Posted by: J on Mar 26, 2008 at 03:42 PM
What a Kleeb - do you really think that Ivy leagues teach their students not to do these things? or actually teach them normally just how to get away with them?

Posted by: Cassidy Location: Anonymous on Mar 26, 2008 at 03:36 PM
If he can't respect the traffic laws, Would he be able to respect us in Washington?????? By

Posted by: Dear Kevin Location: Omaha on Mar 26, 2008 at 02:50 PM
If you seriously consider this individual a criminal...you have issues!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Mark Location: Omaha on Mar 26, 2008 at 02:47 PM
He's got no chance of winning if he can't follow the most basic of laws. Of course, he had no chance anyway.

Posted by: RM Location: Omaha on Mar 26, 2008 at 02:14 PM
If those 60 thousand miles had been in Omaha he probably would not have gotten any tickets for speeding or u-turn I see it all the time Why is this story newsworthy driver licenses get suspended and revoked all the time no one puts every ones name in the news when it happens.

Posted by: Jeff on Mar 26, 2008 at 01:57 PM
Why should I vote for someone who had their license revoked??? I've never gotten a ticket myself, which means I should just run and be declared winner. Then again, I guess being a politician is less stringent on requirements then being your everyday working man/woman.

Posted by: Anonymous on Mar 26, 2008 at 01:30 PM
If he'd been in the unicameral, it would have been perfectly fine...the state senators can speed as often as they like.

Posted by: Biff Location: Elkmaha on Mar 26, 2008 at 01:28 PM
I don't think this Ivy League ranch-hand/history teacher/law violator should be voted into office, and I hope those in his district do the right thing and vote for someone else! He clearly has no regard for the law. Wonder if he would've expressed his regret had he not been running for public office.

Posted by: DB on Mar 26, 2008 at 01:10 PM
I think he's just trying to tell us that he'll never ever be late for Senate. Let's vote for him.

Posted by: What a Kleeb on Mar 26, 2008 at 01:00 PM
Apparently Yale didn't teach this silver spoon Kleeb to respect traffic laws. Everyone knows law enforcement isn't going to mess with you unless you're doing 10 mph over or higher. He'll fit right in to the Democratic Party though. They'll vote the town drunk into office as long as he/she has a (D) after their name.

Posted by: JJ Location: OMAHA on Mar 26, 2008 at 12:19 PM
THIS GUY CAN'T SEEM TO KEEP TRAFIC LAWS, WHY SHOULD HE BE ELECTED TO REPRESENT US? CAN WE DO BETTER THAN THIS?I HOPE SO.

Posted by: Justin Location: Southwest Omaha on Mar 26, 2008 at 11:25 AM
Is this an example of the best and brightest of the up-and-coming Nebraska Democrats? Now THAT’S thickheaded. One would think that a person would learn after, oh, two or three speeding tickets. Yes, I’d be a hypocrite if I said that I don’t speed. But at least I have the gumption to do so with the right hardware. Scott, I have one word and one number for you: Valentine 1. Google it.

Posted by: Kevin on Mar 26, 2008 at 11:09 AM
Wow! Imagine that! Another criminal running for public office!
